2 days in Melbourne

We made a brief stop in Melbourne on our way to Sydney. After a pretty tough overnight flight and outrageous lines at customs, we managed a short nap and then hit the town. Melbourne is a great city with a cool atmosphere. On our first day, we stumbled on a museum show of Australian Surrealism (good fun), found a great craft beer bar (yes, laugh if you want), and ate at a hip restaurant called Cookie for dinner.

On our second day, we walked out to the Carlton Brewery for a tour (see pictures here) and met up with Jogvan (our friend Gudmundur’s cousin). He took us on a great highlights tour, including a couple of awesome rooftop bars (you would never find them on your own), and shared some interesting stories about the history, culture and context of the city. All-in-all, a quick, but great visit to a fun city.
