From the South Island we ferried to Wellington where we visited with Kristina’s sister, brother in-law and 4 nephew/nieces. We had a lovely New Zealand dinner on our first night (lamb and kumara – a local carrot colored sweet potato). The following day we went for a walk in Wellington. It was also Caitlin’s birthday which we celebrated in the morning and in the evening.
Pukawa Bay is on Lake Taupo where we spent two nights (thanks to Mark’s parents Julie and Kevin for letting us stay at this amazing house by the lake). Here we went for a short tramp, played minigolf (the winner Ruby got a double scoop of ice cream while the losers only got 1 scoop) and bathed in the very cold lake. We also played several rounds of P&As (a very competitive card game).
It was really great seeing everyone and looking forward to next time!
